PROJECT:
Resurface washed out and sloping gravel driveway
LOCATION:
Gap Road Uralba NSW 2477
PROJECT STATS:
Mat: Flexible Concrete Erosion Mat
Underlay: Non-Woven Geotextile Underlay
Anchoring: U Bar Anchors
OUR REF: ACM 0100.J
An gravel driveway on a small rural acreage had washout issues after frequent rain events, with the gravel washing away, the stones becoming loose under the wheels and because of the gradient and slope of the road and curves it often became precarious to drive upon during and after rain events.
The concrete mats provided a perfect solution. The stable hard armoured surface, permeable to allow the water to drain away, the flexible mat was easily installed to shape around the curves of the road. Runoff drains were also lined with concrete mats.
A hard stable surface enables firm traction for the vehicles and protected the slopes from and driveway from erosion.
Installation was quick and easy using a 5 tone excavator and the mats were anchored using UBar anchors. The mats were top filled with road base and ready to drive on right away!
APRIL 2022 UPDATE:
In 2022 Floods, this property at Alstonville, northern NSW, received over 700mm overnight. It is located near the bottom of the hill plateau that is Alstonville.
Some pics (marked ion Gallery below) where taken in the morning after the record rainfall. They demonstrate how the mats held up to the heavy rain. The client explained that it only took about 30 minutes of scraping back the top level of road base back onto the mats. The drains had not filled with loose gravel.
He was impressed with the results after record rainfall which before the mats “would’ve meant the whole driveway inaccessible and needing extensive to be reshaped and repaired”.
