Flexible Concrete Mats
Flexible Concrete Erosion Mats made by Australian Concrete Mats are essentially concrete shapes embedded into a high strength polyester woven geogrid with geotextile underlay. The mat is flexible because of geogrid and the shape of the concrete and spacings between them.

Concrete is removed between shapes
The flexible version is more pliable due to the excess concrete has been removed from between the shapes, exposing the geogrid openings which allows water to filter through, capturing sediment, and vegetation can grow through the spaces. The less rigid nature of the mat makes it more pliable in several directions.

Firm Concrete Mats
Firm Concrete Erosion Mats are concrete shapes embedded into a high strength polyester geogrid with geotextile underlay. The mat is “firm” because the excess concrete between the concrete shapes has not been removed, and the underlay geotextile is attached to the underside of the mats.


Concrete is retained between shapes
This version is “firm” because it retains the excess concrete between the concrete shapes. The polyester geogrid is less exposed and the whole mat is more rigid. The mat retains its permeable qualities, however the non-woven underlay is attached by excess concrete to the mat, which will further inhibit the growth of vegetation from coming through the mat. The more rigid nature of the firm mat makes it less pliable, its flexibility is in two directions.
