Recitification works on Creek Crossing to allow safe truck crossing and also to rehabilitate so that fish could travel upstream again.
Mount Mort near Peak Crossing SEQ Cleveland QLD 4163.
Works were undertaken as part of works for Queensland Trust For Nature
CONCRETE MAT SPECS:
Mat: Flexible Concrete Erosion Mats
Underlay: 200gsm Non-Woven Geotextile Underlay
Anchoring: Steel UBar Anchors
OUR REF: ACM 0619
Pictures show the before, during and after the creek crossing rectification works. Existing solid and broken concrete crossing was removed. The bed was lowered at a total of 48cm down to the natural creek level, which allows trucks to cross without a risk of dropping wheels off the side and there is no no barrier to fish that might want to head upstream too!
Axis created a protected weir using concrete mats 15m x 2.4m rolls for all weather access across an intermittent creek for Queensland Trust for Nature with the added benefit of reducing erosion up and downstream.
4 x 15m rolls of Flexible Concrete Mats with Non-Woven Geotextile Underlay was laid onto the access coming into and out of the causeway.
Steel Ubar Anchors were used anchor the mats along joins and edges. These were pushed in by using both hammers and then the excavator to push in further.
Concrete mats were good solution as they provided,
- Good drainage with permeable qualities
- Hard armoured protection and stabilisation for vehicle and foot traffic,
- Stabilisation for the sometimes boggy tracks and slippery gradients
- Easily able to contour around the trees and rocks.
- A sound and cost effective solution.
