MAY 2025
“We rebuilt the driveway just before Cyclone Alfred, which ended up dumping 350mm of rain overnight. We almost lost the dam in the last weather event of 2022, so we got ready this time. We used an innovative product that uses about 15% of the concrete that a standard driveway would use, required because we have a steep section.”
“Our charity bought the concrete mats and we installed them before Cyclone Alfred. They worked perfectly. We had someone jack-knife their 4-tonne trailer a few days after installation, which put massive strain on the product, and it took it no problems! The product performed perfectly with the rainfall from Cyclone Alfred, as I mentioned in the article. We are really happy with it. Waiting for the rains to stop to put some road base on top of it.
The only thing I wish we had done differently was that, as it was put down over an established road, the pins were really hard to get in, and we have to do it with the machine, which was expensive. I did read about the screw method, but wish that we were told that installing over existing roadbase you will definitely need the screws. We managed.“
