Specifications and Technical Data of Articulated Concrete Block Mats
SPECIFICATIONS
Concrete Block Mat Size and Weight Detail
CONCRETE BLOCKS
- Concrete Blocks are interconnected using rope or cable to create an articulated mat
- Concrete is typically 50 MPA Wet-Cast Portland Cement
- 18 individual concrete interlocked blocks make up one 2400 x 1200mm mat
- Spacing between blocks for drainage, vegetation to grow through or granular backfill
- Cable loops on all four sides for safe mat-to-mat connection
INTERCONNECTING CABLE OR ROPE
- The cable or rope is cast into each concrete block in both directions
- The cable or rope allows the whole mat to be flexible at the joints
- Cable or Rope loops on all four sides enables mat-to-mat connection
- Choice of either 16mm Polypropylene Marine Rope or 8mm Stainless Steel Cable
HANDLING MATS
- One AB Block mat weighs approx 215 kg per m2 or 616 kg each
- Supplied stacked 4 high per pallet.
- Each pallet with 4 mats weighs 2550 kg

CONCRETE FLEXURAL STRENGTH
Modulus of Rupture of Articulated Concrete Cable Block Mats
The flexural strength or modulus of rupture of the material is defined as the maximum bending stress that can be applied to that material before it yields.
Australian Concrete Mats Articulated Concrete Cable Block Mats (ACCB) Modulus Of Rupture is measured at 14.2 to 16.4 Mpa. This measure confirms that AB Block mats load capacity is excellent when compared to concrete road pavements which typically require flex strength between about 4.8 & 5.2 Mpa.
“The modulus of concrete is a measure of its tensile strength in the tension zone of the concrete material. The modulus of rupture of concrete gives the tensile strength of the concrete material. It is determined by the loading of the third point test.”

INTERCONNECTING CABLE OR ROPE SPECS
MARINE ROPE OR STAINLESS STEEL CABLE
A key feature of this product is the interconnecting cables that are looped on all mat edges to provide mat-to-mat connection and anchoring. By joining the mats together they can form a single strong unit to cover any area required. The differences and properties of the type of interconnecting cable or rope and some tips for which would be suitable for your project or application.
